Directors and Officers of the Board

At each Annual General meeting, a Chairman, Secretary, and a Treasurer and other such Honorary Officers are elected by Corporate member representatives.

Dave Raw - Chairman

Over the course of his career, Dave has projected managed the installation of millions m² of multicomponent geosynthetic containment systems across a wide range of environmental and infrastructure projects. Work has spanned landfill engineering, water infrastructure, industrial remediation, and specialist containment systems. Delivering technically complex projects to demanding regulatory and performance standards. Since 1997, Dave has served as an advisor to the Training and Welding Institute (TWI) and has been actively involved with the British Geomembrane Association (BGA) since 1996. Furthermore, Dave undertakes projects for a wide client base including suppliers, installers, CQA companies design consultants and project clients both in the UK and globally, including the UK Environment Agency advanced in house training. In these roles, Dave has played a significant part in shaping professional standards within the international lining industry, particularly in relation to the training and certification of Geomembrane Welding Technicians. Dave has contributed to the development and implementation of industry-recognised training and examination frameworks, helping to ensure that technicians meet rigorous technical and quality standards. He was also a co-author of the BGA/TWI industry guidelines, which have become an important reference point for best practice in geomembrane welding and installation.
In addition to standards development, Dave has designed and delivered advanced training programmes in the UK and abroad, tailored to the specific requirements of clients and organisations. These programmes have covered a range of specialist areas, including geomembrane welding techniques, Construction Quality Assurance (CQA), design constructability, installation and the development of efficient and safe site methodologies. His training approach combines technical expertise with extensive practical experience, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical understanding and real-world application skills.

Nathan Jackson - Vice Chair

Fresh off completing my MSc course in Engineering Geology at the University of Leeds (2016), I worked as a Geotechnical Engineer for four years with Wardell Armstrong. I was based out of the Greater Manchester office and in my time there I gained exposure to a variety of sectors/projects including, site investigation (Phase 1 and Phase 2 reporting) for rail and housebuilding, landfill design and Control Quality Assurance (CQA). I then moved into the world of geosynthetics, starting with Maccaferri UK as the Area Engineer for Northern England, working primarily on mass gravity and retaining solutions. I then switched over to Naue where I am currently employed as the Environmental Manager for the UK. Within my role at Naue I assist on specifications with consulting engineers and work with contracting teams on design and build projects to ensure the correct geosynthetics are being placed in the correct application. Any project which Naue are involved with that could be scrutinised by a regulatory body or local authority will generally come across my desk for me to assist on.
