A Blue – Craft  Gas Membrane Installer CSCS card is available, which replaces the Construction Related Occupation (CRO) Gas/Containment Membrane Installer (5125) card. Thus, reflecting the introduction of the Level 2 Diploma in Sub-structure Work Occupations (Construction) - Installation of Gas Membranes (ref 500/9027/6). Holders of the CRO will, at renewal, be required to upgrade to this occupation.

Applicants must also pass a Health, Safety & Environment test To find out how to apply for the appropriate card check the occupations section of the CSCS website. Cards cost £30 and the Health, Safety & Environment Test is £17.50. Applying for a card can be done directly by you or your employer.

CSCS was set up in the mid-90s with the aim of improving site workers' competence to reduce accidents and drive up on-site efficiencies. The Scheme keeps a database of those working in construction that achieve, or can demonstrate that they have already attained an agreed level of occupational competence.

Successful applicants are issued with a card giving them a means of identification and proof of their achievements. Cards are increasingly demanded as evidence of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients and others, and today there are over 1.7 million cards in circulation.
